Realia Marketing named as a finalist in the National Insurance Awards 2020
Finalists for the National Insurance Awards 2020 announced
Realia Marketing is delighted to be shortlisted for the ‘Communications Team of the Year’ category at the National Insurance Awards 2020. The joint submission with the BDMA (British Damage Management Association), recognises the ongoing strength and success of the brand, PR and social strategy that both teams devise and implement.
The BDMA is the accreditation body of choice for the damage management industry, representing the interests of practitioners and facilitating education, training, technical support and advice for the public, industry and commercial organisations.
Realia and the BDMA have been working together for two years to enhance the BDMA’s profile and increase awareness to be further identified as the thought leader for the wider insurance industry. The BDMA has historically been recognised for its work with the damage management sector, but it wanted to demonstrate that its expertise went beyond this, and that it could equally be a credible reference and news source for the wider insurance industry. The BDMA is renowned for setting standards for industry training and this needed to be brought further to life. Realia has delivered a PR and social media strategy for press engagement, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. We utilised our OTE model as part of our strategy. OTE is our Opportunities to Engage® model – an integrated approach to deliver consistent, engaging content via social outreach, PR and SEO.
The two teams worked together to bring authentic insights to life through content. ‘Content champions’ were recruited to provide expert thought leadership for a blog. For example, ‘Guest Blogs’ from members. This has so far seen great success with this, attracting business leaders from Aviva, The Association of British Insurers, and CILA. Additionally, the Realia team work with the BDMA’s spokespeople to write topical feature articles to pitch to industry press. Furthermore, Realia creates the BDMA’s quarterly magazine, The Standard, from planning, through to copywriting and design.
Success indicators so far include a £7,300 membership revenue growth over 12 months, 2,066 email newsletter subscribers and 10 feature articles covered with national industry magazines in 12 months.
Realia was further awarded the role of arranging the BDMA’s bi-annual Conference, which is in November 2019. From organising the event including speakers, exhibitors and sponsors, to branding and integrated marketing delivery, the combined team was dedicated to the event’s success. The Conference had over 240 delegates in attendance, 30+ exhibitors & sponsors and 160 BDMA Awards dinner guests. 89% rated the overall Conference 2019 as good, exceeding expectations or outstanding and memorable.

The National Insurance Awards highlight the very best in general insurance provision, management and communications, featuring 30 categories for companies and teams that demonstrate excellence in their field. The awards evening will take place on 5th March 2020 at the The Waldorf Hilton, London.
